Ørsted’s Incheon offshore wind projects set to boost economic development in the region with the launch of new local partnerships

Global offshore wind leader Ørsted has established a new local cooperation council to support the successful advancement of its Incheon offshore wind projects and regional economic development. The council brings together many of the key stakeholder groups with Ørsted to boost mutual growth and benefits, based on close cooperation with the local community.

The guests at the signing event included Per Mejnert Kristensen, CEO of Ørsted Asia Pacific, Park Jung-min, Country Manager of Ørsted Korea and Søren Gyllun, Project Development Director of Ørsted Korea as well as Lee Min-yong, a chairman of Deokjeok-meon Development Committee, Kang Tae-mu, a chairman of Jawol-meon Wind Power Council, Kang Cha-byoung, a representative of Deokjeok- Jawol Fishermen’s Council (on behalf of Jawon-meon), Lee Hyun-gak, a representative of Deokjeok- Jawol Fishermen’s Council (on behalf of Deokjeok-meon), Jang Tae-hon, president of Baekryung-meon Residents’ Association, and Bae Bok-bong, president of Daecheong-meon Village Leaders’ Association.

Ørsted’s Incheon offshore wind projects will enhance economic activity through local employment and co-prosperity initiatives as well as developing other local coexistence programs including state-of-the-art monitoring of marine and fisheries environments.

On the same day, Ørsted also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Incheon’s Inha University to promote the sustainable growth of domestic marine resources and the offshore wind power industry. Ørsted will work closely with the Inha-affiliated Gyeonggi-Incheon SeaGrant Center to conduct research on marine resources and the natural environment related to offshore wind power.
