Ørsted Wraps Up Successful 2026 Korea Energy Show
Ørsted’s participation formed part of its ongoing efforts to support the successful development of the Incheon offshore wind projects by showcasing innovative technologies and expanding collaboration with Korean suppliers. The company introduced its Incheon Offshore Wind Projects 1 and 2, with a combined capacity of 1.47 GW, currently under development approximately 70 km off the coast of Incheon. It also shared how the projects can create economic and social value for the region and contribute to Korea’s energy transition.
At its booth and seminar sessions, Ørsted showcased Osonic, its proprietary innovative technology developed to modernise monopile foundation installation at scale, while reducing offshore complexity and supporting Ørsted’s biodiversity ambitions. Osonic can reduce underwater noise generated during monopile installation by up to 99%, significantly lowering the impact of installation noise on marine ecosystems. Ørsted is also assessing the potential application of Osonic to the Incheon Offshore Wind projects.
Ørsted also discussed potential opportunities for project participation and collaboration with Korean suppliers. At its special session, “Partnering with Ørsted: Supplier Opportunities and Innovative Solutions,” the company outlined supplier registration and procurement procedures for Incheon Offshore Wind Projects 1 and 2, while continuing discussions with numerous Korean companies at its booth. Building on partnerships established over more than a decade, Ørsted shared its plans to grow together with Korean suppliers through the Incheon project and its global business. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Korea’s offshore wind deployment targets, strengthening energy security through the energy transition, and contributing to the country’s nationally determined contribution (NDC) target.
Interactive activities helped raise public awareness of renewable energy and the importance of climate action. A virtual reality (VR) zone offering tours of offshore wind farms built by Ørsted around the world, along with the “Earth Ice Cream” event held on 16 and 17 September, received an enthusiastic response from visitors. These activities made offshore wind more accessible to both industry representatives and the general public, encouraging interest in climate action for the planet.
David Taeseung Yoo, Country Manager of Ørsted Korea, said:
“The Korea Energy Show provided a valuable opportunity to share the development direction of the Incheon offshore wind projects with stakeholders and discuss concrete opportunities for collaboration with Korean suppliers. We will continue to draw on our global offshore wind experience and innovative technologies to support coexistence with nature and local communities, grow together with Korean companies through the Incheon project and our global business, and contribute to Korea’s energy transition.”
