Ørsted Supports Local Talent at Inha Engineering Festival
The Inha Engineering Festival was jointly hosted by Inha University’s ANCHOR Project Headquarters, Innovation Center for Engineering Education, and College of Engineering, and organized by the Innovation Center for Engineering Education. The festival was designed to showcase achievements in engineering and nurture talent for future industries.
Ørsted is developing 1.47 GW of offshore wind capacity in Incheon and is working closely with local communities and a wide range of stakeholders to contribute to the region’s economic and social development. As part of these efforts, Ørsted operated an exhibition booth at the festival, giving students an opportunity to learn more about the offshore wind industry and Ørsted’s activities. The booth featured a virtual reality (VR) experience that allowed students to explore the world’s largest offshore wind farm, built by Ørsted in the UK, and gain a sense of what it is like to work at an offshore wind site.
David Taeseung Yoo, Country Manager of Ørsted Korea, attended the opening ceremony on 9 September and presented scholarships to Inha University students. The scholarships were established to help engineering students in Incheon, where Ørsted is developing its offshore wind projects, build their expertise and prepare to lead future industries.

We hope this festival will help students become more familiar with offshore wind and consider it as a potential career path.”
At the opening ceremony, Ørsted also signed an MoU with Inha University and Windlake, a consultancy specializing in preliminary analysis for military operational compatibility assessments of offshore wind projects and coordination with relevant authorities. The agreement covers cooperation in offshore wind and military-related fields, demonstrating Ørsted’s continued efforts to strengthen the delivery of its Incheon Offshore Wind projects and expand collaboration with local universities and Korean companies. Over the past decade, Ørsted has contributed to the growth of Korea’s supply chain through partnerships with Korean companies, procuring and deploying Korean-made equipment and services worth approximately KRW 3.5 trillion across its offshore wind projects worldwide. Building on this collaboration, Ørsted will continue to work with local partners to support the growth of Korea’s offshore wind industry.
Ørsted is currently developing the 1.47 GW Incheon Offshore Wind 1 & 2 projects, located approximately 70 km off the coast of Incheon. Guided by its principles of decarbonization, coexistence with nature, and creating value for local communities, Ørsted is advancing the projects in close collaboration with local stakeholders. Once completed, the projects are expected to supply renewable energy equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 1.4 million households, while creating long-term economic and social value for Incheon and contributing to Korea’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Ørsted will continue to work with local communities and educational institutions to raise awareness of Korea’s offshore wind industry and help nurture the talent needed to support its long-term growth.
