Senior / Lead Commercial Manager

Join us in this role where you’ll be responsible for managing investment and joint venture (JV) partnerships within our UKE portfolio made up of some of the world’s biggest offshore windfarms collectively supplying energy to nearly 3.5 million homes.

You’ll be part of the Commercial team in the UK East Hub, reporting to the Head of Commercial Management, where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for the day-to-day management of JV partnerships and other key external relationships on the assets as well as playing a central role in maximising the value of the assets.

As a team, we work closely with various internal teams incl. finance, insurance, operations, engineering and legal; as well as collaborating with our peers across the Ørsted portfolio, both in the UK and internationally.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • acting as the day-to-day representative of Ørsted towards the JVs, and other key external stakeholders ensuring the JVs delivers on contractual, financial and legal obligations
  • delivering all the services related to managing the JVs, including making strategic recommendations, preparation of material for Board and Steering Committee meetings, delivering budgets and coordinating delivery of various reports
  • driving effective working dynamics and robust decision-making on JV Boards, with a strong focus on safety, commercial performance, and successful long-term relationships
  • handling commercial issues arising in the partnerships, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements (incl. financial and legal obligations), collaborating across the East Coast Hub to ensure optimal commercial performance with respect to budget and lifetime value
  • driving and facilitating commercial discussions arising in the partnership and leading on negotiating and settling disputes
  • collaborating across the Commercial team to optimise asset profitability (EBITDA and NPV), including with colleagues in Contract Management and OMA, with a particular focus on identifying and managing risks to the business case (threats & opportunities)
  • working with the rest of the Commercial Management UKE team to collectively deliver on the team’s, and wider business unit’s, objectives.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a strong passion for renewable energy, in particular offshore wind
  • have a degree in a commercial, scientific or technical discipline, for example, economics, finance, law, engineering
  • have excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills for managing internal and external stakeholders across a breadth of topics and at various organisational levels
  • have strong commercial insight and an understanding of the main levers for improving the financial performance of assets; negotiation and financial modelling experience will be an advantage
  • good understanding of Profit and Loss and the ability to translate technical topics into relevant revenue / cost impacts
  • have experience with commercial, contract, and/or project management, and ideally have experience working in either JVs or asset management
  • are personable, dependable, self-motivated, organised and adaptable; you also prioritise safety, always communicate proactively and act with high integrity.
