Platform Engineering Principal

Join us in this role where you’ll help to connect our internal developer platform with infrastructure and cloud areas domains to support platform engineering and DevOps transformation, enabling quick development of secure high-quality products. You will influence, set direction, and establish requirements for products and services that support our internal developer platform, ensuring compliance with the reference architecture.

Welcome to Ørsted Developer Platform Centre of Excellence
You’ll be an integral part of the Ørsted Developer Platform (ODP) team where you, together with your colleagues, will streamline and enhance our software development processes. You will work closely with development teams to facilitate the adoption of ODP products and practices, overseeing their implementation. The Ørsted Developer Platform (ODP) consists of off-the-shelf components, customized open-source elements, APIs, and tools, all supported by governance, guidance, and documentation designed to scale DevSecOps within Ørsted. As a team, we emphasize collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, fostering a supportive and dynamic work environment.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • collecting and relaying developer experiences and feedback to the ODP Team and Ørsted leadership as input for the enterprise DevOps roadmap
  • promoting and ensuring awareness of ODP vision, mission, and target architecture by emphasizing its features and benefits
  • enhancing our software development processes for Ørsted developers, collaborating with delivery organisations and communities of practice to adopt ODP products, services, best practices, and frameworks
  • overseeing deliverables from cross-organizational entities with focus on bridging ODP and infrastructure domain
  • providing technical leadership and training within the developer domains, influencing the directions of products and services through the developer toolchain, and identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement
  • supporting in designing, developing, and maintaining a high-quality developer platform, incl. APIs, tooling, and customisation of commercial and open-source components.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have strong collaboration and communication skills conveying complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • are familiar with several of the following: Infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), cloud-native infrastructure principles, and network architecture
  • possesses the domain experience, opinionated and persistent in driving forward the vision of an internal developer platform
  • have experience with multiple concepts such as Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SOLID principles, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Test-Driven Development (TDD), Twelve-Factor App methodology, and cloud-native architecture principles
  • have experience with the entire software development lifecycle and are skilled in building and maintaining infrastructure deployment pipelines in line with robust DevSecOps principles
  • have experience with infrastructure management on platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, and Docker, with a keen interest in exploring new environments.
