Offshore wind capabilities

As the global leader in offshore wind, Ørsted has constructed 25 offshore wind farms in Europe since 1991 and installed more than 1,100 wind turbines in the sea. Currently we have around 9.9 GW offshore wind projects constructed and under construction, including the world’s largest offshore wind farm Hornsea 1 & 2 in the UK.

In Asia, we have invested and own 35% of Taiwan’s first offshore wind farm – Formosa 1, which will be 128MW after completion. We also have exclusive rights to develop four Greater Changhua projects, 35 to 60 kilometers off the Changhua coast. The four projects, with a maximum capacity of 2.4GW, have passed the full environmental impact assessment and are now in the grid permitting process, will be completed between 2021 to 2025.

Strong end-to-end business model

Ørsted is not just a developer. We are an integrated energy company that develop, build, own, operate, and decommission of a world- class offshore wind farms. We have around 2,777 employees in our Wind power business and inhouse competences in providing end-to-end business model.

Long-term partnership with local stakeholders

We never enter the market for short term. Our offshore wind projects will be in operation for at least 25 years after the construction. Engaging with local stakeholders is crucial to the success of our offshore wind projects. For example, in Taiwan, we keep engagement with stakeholders from the public and private sectors, from the central and local levels so our offshore wind projects can be better integrated into the society and the overall energy system.
