Senior Environmental and Permitting Specialist

Join us in this role where you’ll play a key role in the development of our offshore wind projects on the east coast of the United States. Our team of environmental managers work within the US Permitting team securing permits for federal and state agencies. In this role, you’ll support our projects located off the East coast.

Welcome to US Permitting

You’ll be part of US Permitting where, you together with your colleagues, will be involved in a range of environmental, permitting, and scientific topics to support securing federal and state permits for the offshore wind farm, exporting cables and onshore links to the existing transmission grid. You’ll work with colleagues in the US and Europe, incl. specialist consultants, regulatory authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • planning and coordinating efficient environmental and regulatory reviews and permitting of projects, incl. preparing applications to regulatory entities
  • supporting management of external consultants undertaking surveys and studies to support the permitting processes
  • obtaining necessary approvals for offshore and onshore site investigation surveys and planning for surveys to comply with regulatory requirements
  • coordinating the development of permit drawings and environmental compliance plans with engineering, construction, and execution teams internally
  • creating and maintaining positive relationships with internal stakeholders, agency personnel, and other key external stakeholders and interest groups.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold, as a minimum, a bachelor’s degree within a relevant field, e.g., permitting, environmental policy, marine biology, marine affairs, or other related disciplines
  • have min. 2 years of related work experience, e.g., from the wind industry, large scale infrastructure projects, or through working for consultancies, agencies, etc
  • possess in-depth knowledge of US regulations and policies, as well as a solid understanding of the concerns of key decision-makers, policymakers, and state or federal authorities
  • have experience working with projects under the National Environmental Policy Act or Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Environmental Assessments
  • thrive in a global work environment, working both independently and collaboratively with your colleagues in the US and Europe
  • have excellent technical writing skills and stakeholder management abilities and are a trustworthy and impactful communicator.
