As the global leader in offshore wind, Ørsted has constructed 25 offshore wind farms in Europe since 1991 and installed more than 1,100 wind turbines in the sea. Currently we have around 9.9 GW offshore wind projects constructed and under construction, including the world’s largest offshore wind farm Hornsea 1 & 2 in the UK.
In Asia, we have invested and own 35% of Taiwan’s first offshore wind farm – Formosa 1, which will be 128MW after completion. We also have exclusive rights to develop four Greater Changhua projects, 35 to 60 kilometers off the Changhua coast. The four projects, with a maximum capacity of 2.4GW, have passed the full environmental impact assessment and are now in the grid permitting process, will be completed between 2021 to 2025.
